My Yummy Buttercream

This buttercream is great on any cake! It was very easy to make and tastes so good. There are two versions that I am going to list ingredients for. One plain white, and the other is vanilla. Either one is great, it is all up to you.

Vanilla Buttercream

1 2 lb bag of powdered sugar
2 sticks softened butter
4 tbsp milk or heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla

You can start with creaming the butter, milk, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. I use my mixer on low/medium for this. I then slowly add in my powdered sugar, to prevent a big mess! It is done after about 2 minutes, or once all possible lumps are gone. You can get a pretty thick buttercream from this recipe. To make it thinner I would add more milk or heavy cream. For a thicker buttercream I would add more powdered sugar.

Simple White Buttercream

1 2 lb bag of powdered sugar
8 oz shortening
4 tbsp milk

This recipe provides a white buttercream, which is perfect for white cakes, crusting/crumb coating, and for layering. The same process applies when mixing this recipe.
